My Love for You

My love for you

It comes in waves

Dropped down by a sparrow

Or buried in a grave

One minute it slaps me right in the face

Right after it’s gone without a trace

Often, I wonder, where it’s carried off to

To the highest mountain top?

Or just stuck under my shoe?

Whatever it is can it just go away

Because I’m restless with the longing to just touch your face

But I know your love will never stay

It’s foolish to imagine myself in your embrace

So I savor the moments the feeling is pulled away from the shore

Either hoping you’ll one day love me

Or that I’ll love you no more
