The One That Doesn’t Slip Away

I swear I can never fully hold love in my hand

It runs, it slips, it drops, it jumps

And I can’t seem to understand

Even when it seems quite right

Soon they veer away

They told me I was pretty

So what did I do or say?

The change seems to happen in a moment

Just one click and they’re gone

Are they finding someone new?

Or just no longer drawn?

I made you laugh, you kissed me

But turns out that was our goodbye

I knew I saw that glint in your eye for a moment

You were laying plans you can’t deny

But just like the others

Our time together only produced tears and sleepless nights

Quite a few happy memories

And more bitterness my heart excites

And though I pretend it doesn’t bother me

I really wish this new one would stay

I promise to hold you ever so sweet and gently

If you’re the one who doesn’t slip away
