A Wild Wind

I failed at hating him,

But even worse, he failed at loving me,

It seems my heart is always entangled,

Like roots grasping at barren earth, thirsty, yet never free.

I yearned for warmth within his embrace,

But found only shadows where love should be,

My hope shattered like fragile glass,

For he, a wild wind, refused to shelter me.
